Letters of Support

Dear City of Flagstaff,
This letter is to express our support for the initiative which creates a non-profit foundation to purchase and manage the most eco-friendly ski resort in the world with the guidance of Indigenous Peoples. We believe this is a safe and viable alternative to the pending request to utilize ground water or treated sewage effluent for snow making.
We agree that a not-for-profit organization established to manage the Ski Resort in a manner that is both environmentally and culturally sensitive is the best alternative for all parties concerned.
We look forward to participating in this collaborative effort and encourage the City of Flagstaff to partner with the Tribes, conservation organizations and all interested parties to respect the environmental and cultural integrity of the San Francisco Peaks.
We believe this innovative approach will protect water sources, cultural resources and the natural environment to provide this and future generations with a special place to recreate.
With the global trend towards sustainability, and the many majors and focus areas at Northern Arizona University, an eco-friendly ski resort in close proximity to the campus would allow for an active engagement between the resort and the University. Since both NAU and the City of Flagstaff have made strides towards sustainability the next step would be to further pursue the sustainable option to this matter, which has gained national interest. Those of us that study sustainability and eco friendly options, offer our support in any planning, implementation, or other needed capacity.
We strongly support this alternative that has so many positive benefits for the residents of Flagstaff and the Indigenous Peoples.
Sincerely,
Kevin Ordean
